Honshu Island

Honshu Island 
Honshu Island is the largest island among all the islands of Japan. It is also the most 
densely populated islands. It is the seventh-largest island in the world, and the second most densely populated islands all over the world after the island of Java in Indonesia. Overlooking the island in the north-western coast of the Sea of Japan, which is the main source of living on fishing and agriculture. There is a place on this island which is known as Niigata, which is famous for rice production. Honshu Island is famous for its frequent earthquakes. The number of Honshu island's population of about 103 million people in 2005, and who are concentrated mostly in low-lying areas, especially in the Kanto Plain, where 25% of the total population resides in the Greater Tokyo area, which includes Tokyo and Yokohama, Kawasaki, Saitama and the cities of Chiba. Most of the industries in the country is located along the belt running from Tokyo along the southern coastal cities of Honshu, including Kyoto, Osaka, Nagoya, Kobe, and Hiroshima, part of the belt Tahaao.

Honshu island's economy depends on the length of the north-west coast of the Sea of Japan on fishing and agriculture. Kanto plains and newbies produce rice and vegetables. Yamanashi is a major fruit growing area, and Aomori is famous for its apples. There are notable historical centers in Kyoto, Nara and Kamakura.
Geography
Almost island stretches 1,300 kilometers (810 miles) and varies in width to 50-230 km (31-143 miles), a total area of 227,962.59 km2 (88,016.85 square miles), and 60% of the total area of Japan. It is slightly larger than Great Britain. Expanding area with land reclamation, coastal raise in the north, but it rises above sea level in these effects. Honshu has 5,450 kilometers (3,386 miles) from the coast.

Honshu has mountainous areas and volcanic, the highest peak is the active volcano of Mount Fuji in the 3,776 meters (12388 feet), making it the seventh-highest island in the world and there are many rivers, including the Shinano River, the longest river in Japan with a temperate climate, with the difference between the east or south (Pacific or Inland Sea coast) and (sea of Japan coast) west side or the north.

The island is nominally divided into five regions and include 34 province, including the capital Tokyo. Areas are:
Chugoku (Western)
Kansai (Southeast Chugoku)
Chubu (in the middle)
Kanto (Eastern)
And Tohoku (in the north)

Areas are:
Tohoku - Aomori area, Iwate Prefecture, Miyagi, Akita Prefecture, Yamagata area, Fukushima area.
Kanto - Ibaraki area, Tochigi area, Gunma area, Saitama, Chiba, Tokyo and Kanagawa area area.
Chubu - Niigata, Toyama area, area Ishikawa, Fukui, Yamanashi area, Nagano, Gifu, Shizuoka, Aichi region.
Kansai, Shiga area, Kyoto Prefecture, Osaka Prefecture, Hyogo, Nara area, Wakayama Prefecture.
Chugoku region - Tottori, Shimane Prefecture, Okayama Prefecture, Hiroshima, Yamaguchi.

Some small islands within these provinces are included, including a prominent Ogasawara Islands, and the island of Sado, and Izu Oshima Island, and the island of Awaji.

Agriculture
Honshu is famous for the cultivation of tea, fruits and vegetables, cereals, rice and cotton in Japan.
